1. The field
In the middle of the lacrosse field there is a circle. This is called the center or the draw circle. This is where the draw is taken. The draw is where one member of each team faces off to try to get possession of the ball. The draw is taken at the begining of each game and after a goal is scored. The two lines on each side of the draw circle are called the restaining lines. Only a certain amount of players from each team can go over the restraining lines. If there are more people across a restaining line than are supposed to be, it is called offsides. Then there is the 12 meter arc, 8 meter arc, and the crease. The 12 meter arc really doesn't do anything. You can only be in the 8 meter arc for 3 seconds or it is a turn over and the other team gets the ball. The crease is the circle surrounding the goal and only the goal keeper can be in the crease.
2. Positions
There are many positions in lacrosse. One of them is goal keeper. The goal keeper defends the goal and stops the ball from going into the goal. Defence defend the goal, but can not step in the crease. Attack is by the opponents goal and are the ones who scores the goals. Midfield plays both attack and defence and run the ball up and down the field.
3. Equipment
Lacrosse equipment is very important in the game. You want to make sure that you always have equipment that is safe and in good shape. The equipment is different for men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse. Men's lacrosse requires a helment, mouthgaurd, shoulder pads, rib pads arm protection, gloves, cleats, and a working men's stick. Women's lacrosse requires a mouthgaurd, goggles, cleats, and a working women's stick. The men's stick is different from the women's stick because the pockets are deeper.
